  • Standard belly ring, where the curved metal is pierced through the top part of your navel and the barbells are later fixed to that curved metal.
  • Inverse Navel Piercing, where the piercing will be done on the bottom of the navel.
  • True belly button piercing is suitable for you if you have an outie belly button.

Aftercare And Healing

Once you get your navel piercing done, it is highly recommended that you need to clean that once or twice a day. The effective and inexpensive way of preparing your aftercare solution is, using salt and water solution. For this, you need distilled water and non-iodized sea salt.

Into a gallon of water add four teaspoons of sea salt. Do not mix water and salt for every single use, as it may become stronger or mild sometimes. Whenever you go to clean the pierced area, pour some of this solution in a small cup. Use porcelain or glass instead of plastic or paper as they may contaminate the solution.

Check that the solution is at body temperature before you use it. Now, lean forward and push the cup around the pierced area and keep it there for five to ten minutes. Gently clean the area after that.

Healing period is not same for all. Usually, it will heal by six to eight months. Try not to touch that place except for cleaning any dried particles. Since pierced area is open, often touching may pave way for allowing bacteria into the tissue.

Use loose fitting clothes and make sure you don’t wear anything that will rub against the pierced area. Also take care of your overall health by following proper diet and have adequate sleep. In the meantime, if you feel something has gone wrong, you can contact your piercer.
